Macau Trip – Personal

Jonathan and I had to leave the country for visa reasons, so of course we decided to go to Macau – the Vegas of China! Macau is one of the 2 special regions of China, the other being Hong Kong. The Portuguese arrived in Macau in the early 1550’s and established a city that within a short time had become a major place for trade between China, Japan, India and Europe. Portuguese, Cantonese, Mandarin, and English are the languages spoken here. They drive on the left side of the road, and are extremely crazy drivers, naturally,  because they hold a city street Grand Prix every year! It is filled with the contrasts of old history and new casino’s such as the Venetian, Hard Rock, and MGM Grand. We had a long journey to get there by train (20 hours, plus a 3hour bus), but normally on a plane it only takes a 3 or so hours from where we live in Hangzhou! Here are some photos from our journey 🙂
